Link popularity is the term we use to describe an algorithm used by many search engines to determine front page placement. It is one piece of the front page puzzle that can take time, but is well worth it.

By itself, link popularity might not work for you. When combined with the other criteria meeting tactics, such as, increasing your sites relevancy, and metatag tactics, it will launch you out ahead of your competition.


Here are Seven ways to create link-backs to yourself, therefore increasing your link popularity.

1. Sign every guestbook you come across, be sure to include your url linking back to your site.

2. Offer sincere testimonials to sites you enjoy or benefit from. Give permission to post your testimonial with the stipulation that a link back to your own site be posted with your testimonial.

3. Post your answers to questions in every discussion forum you can find. Take the time to find a topic you can advise on, and your site will be linked back to you for a long time. Give bad advice, just to perpetuate a link back, and your post may be wiped out by the moderator.

4. Write an article and put it into every article bank you come across. Every article has a resource box in which you can put your url linking back to your site. Your article may be used and posted on several other sites, all containing that link back to you.

5. Submit to FFA Classifieds and directories once a week. Although FFA's are not currently indexed by many engines. The classified and directories may be. However you will be rotated out often so once a week, is a good bet to increase link popularity.

6. Post your Classified ads in AOL classifieds and YAHOO classified once per week. AOL classifieds also get posted in netscape and earthlink.

7. Submit your site to as many search engines as possible. While you may not get the front page placement from all, you will have a link back to you from them all.
