Explode Sales With Your Own Irresistible Offer!

by Kevin Nunley

Larry's sales usually slow way down this time of year. "Customers are thinking about everything but buying from me. A few weeks of this and it gets hard to pay the bills," he laments.

Fortunately there is an easy, fool-proof way to dramatically boost sales even in the slowest of slumps. This method works even better in good times. It's the classic Irresistible Offer.

One summer when sales seemed especially slow, I tossed and turned all night trying to figure out how to get sales going again. Gradually an Irresistible Offer began to come to me. I got up at 6am, created a web page with my offer, composed an email message announcing it, and sent it to my newsletter list at 8am. By 10am $5,000 in orders had come in. By the end of the day the total stood at $10,000 with more coming in minute by minute.

My project was relatively small, but the Irresistible Offer is used by major corporations to sell millions a day. It can be as big or little as you like.

The formula is simple. Bunch together several of your hottest products or services and offer them at a nice discount. Then announce your deal via email to your list of current and past customers. Let them know the deal is JUST FOR THEM (but let them also know you will happily extend the special offer to their friends and associates).

If you don't have a house email list, try sending a postcard or sales letter.

The items in your offer must be related. They should all work together to help the customer reach a goal. My offer was designed to help small businesses kick start their sales. It included a press release, ezine article, ezine ads, and sales copy.

Give your offer a time limit. It's common to give people a one week deadline to order, but one month works well also, especially if your product or service is a bit pricey.

You can offer your special package as an add-on. When people buy a big profit item, they get the option to also purchase your Irresistible Offer, but only if they act now!

The key is to create a great value for the customer while still leaving a good profit margin for yourself. Start your package with several substantial products or services, then fill it out with a few additional related items that don't cost you much.

In my package, the press release and ezine article took a fair amount of time to create, but the ezine ads were quick and easy.

You will want a web page to detail your Irresistible Offer. A recent study by Jupiter Research shows more than ever, people like to get product information from a web page. A web page packed with exciting descriptions and details is immediate, free, and offers ways to contact you to ask specific questions.

Start your page with a headline that reveals the big discount. "FIVE of our most popular services at a WHOPPING 75% OFF!" Then add "Exclusively for our most valued customers!"

Then take time to deliciously describe each of the products or services in your offer. This would be a good time to bring in a professional copy writer. You can have the writer create the descriptions for you or polish up what you have written yourself.

Don't get carried away. A huge list of 20 different services will look too long to read. You are better to stick to three to five value-packed things that really move a customer toward her specific goal.

Once you announce your Irresistible Offer, follow up a day or two later with a reminder. Announce it at the beginning of each issue of your newsletter. People often miss your first announcement and need several additional chances to respond.
